Ingredients

all-purpose flour

whole wheat flour

baking powder

cayenne pepper

butter
cut into pieces

grated sharp cheddar cheese
divided
1
cup
grated apple
1 medium

Tbsp
chopped chives

cup
buttermilk*
Instructions
Preheat oven to 450°F.
Stir together flours, baking powder, salt and cayenne pepper.
Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Stir in 3/4 cup grated cheese, apples and chives.
Make a well and add buttermilk to flour; stir until just combined.
Using a tablespoon, drop dough onto greased baking sheet.
Sprinkle remainder of cheese on top of biscuits.
Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until golden. Enjoy right away.
Notes
Makes 8-10 biscuits
Note:
For buttermilk substitute pour 1 Tbsp lemon juice in a measuring cup and add enough milk to make 1 cup. Let rest 5 min.
